Cookie Policy

1. The short version
We use a small number of cookies. Some are needed to sign you in and cannot be turned off without breaking the site. Analytics only runs if you accept it. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.
The one worth knowing about is YouTube, because our lesson recordings are embedded from it. Section 4 explains what that means.
2. Essential cookies
These make the site work. They do not need consent, because without them you could not sign in.

3. Analytics, only if you say yes
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages get used and where things go wrong. It tells us that a page was viewed, not who you are.
It only loads if you accept on the cookie banner. If you decline, we actively switch Google Analytics off rather than merely not using it, so no analytics cookies are set at all. We also keep it off entirely on our test site, so our own tinkering never shows up in the numbers.
4. YouTube, and why it matters here
Our live lessons are streamed through YouTube and the recordings are embedded on this site for catch-up. When a page containing a recording loads and you play it, YouTube receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under Google's terms rather than ours.
This is worth saying because on most sites embedded video is incidental. Here it is a main feature, so for a Premium member it is the most significant third party on the site by some distance.
What you can do about it: watch recordings while signed out of your Google account, or use a browser that blocks third-party cookies. Neither stops the recording playing. Google's own explanation is in the Google Privacy Policy.
5. What we do not do
- No advertising cookies, and no ad networks.
- No selling or sharing of your browsing data.
- No tracking you around other websites.
- No profiling of students for marketing. Most of our users are under 18 and this is not a line we intend to go anywhere near.
6. Changing your mind
Every browser lets you delete cookies and block them, usually under Settings then Privacy. Deleting the cookie that remembers your banner choice will make the banner appear again, so you can answer differently.
Blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in. That is not us being awkward; it is what those cookies are for.
