Terms of Use

1. Who we are, and what these cover

A Level Maths Academy is operated by The A Level Maths Tutor Limited (company number 15224150), registered office 83-89 Phoenix Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield, England, NG17 4HL. In these terms "we" and "us" mean that company and "you" means whoever is using the site.

These terms cover your use of this website and everything on it. They are not a contract for tuition. If you are tutored by The A Level Maths Tutor, that arrangement has its own terms and these do not change them. If you subscribe to Premium, section 4 is part of your contract with us.

2. Your account

• Your account is personal to you. Please do not share your password or let someone else use it.
• You need to confirm your email address before you can sign in. That is deliberate; it keeps the accounts real.
• Keep your details accurate, so that reminders and emails reach you.
• Tell us if you think someone else has got into your account.
• You can close your account whenever you like, by emailing us.

3. Free and Premium membership

Free membership gives you flashcards, past papers, revision notes and topic questions. It costs nothing and there is no catch: we would rather you found the free material useful and told someone.

Premium membership adds the live online lessons on our Year 2 A Level Maths course, recordings of those lessons, the full flashcard library and our other Premium resources. There are two ways to have it: it is included while you are tutored by The A Level Maths Tutor, or you can pay for it as a monthly subscription, which is covered in section 4.

If your tutoring ends, the Premium access that came with it ends too, and your account reverts to Free rather than being closed. Your flashcard progress and your work stay where they are.

4. Premium subscriptions

This section applies if you pay for a Premium membership. If your Premium membership comes from tutoring with The A Level Maths Tutor, it does not apply to you.

The price, and the offer for new subscribers

• Premium membership costs £19.99 a month. It is billed monthly; there is no yearly option at the moment.
• If you have not subscribed before, your first 14 days cost £5, which you pay when you sign up. On day 14 you pay £19.99, and then £19.99 on the same date every month until you cancel.
• The £5 offer is once per person. If you have subscribed before, you pay £19.99 when you sign up and then every month until you cancel.
• If you are on the £5 offer, we email you three days before your first £19.99 is taken.

What you get

• The live online lessons on our Year 2 A Level Maths course.
• Recordings of those lessons from the start of the current term.
• The full flashcard library.
• Our other Premium resources.

Who can subscribe

• The subscription belongs to the account you sign up with. You can create that account as part of subscribing, or sign in to one you already have.
• Subscriptions are for UK billing addresses only. If a subscription is taken out with a billing address outside the UK, we will cancel it and refund what was paid.
• When you sign up you confirm that you are 18 or over, or that the person whose card is being used has agreed to the subscription.

Paying and renewal

• Payments are taken by Stripe, on Stripe's own secure page. We never see your card number.
• Your subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel it.
• If a payment does not go through, Stripe will try again and we will email you. If it still cannot be taken, your subscription ends and your account goes back to Free.

Cancelling

• You can cancel at any time from your account page, under Manage subscription. You can also change your card and see your invoices there.
• Cancelling stops all future payments. Your Premium membership carries on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.
• At the end of that period your access to the live lessons, the recordings and all Premium resources ends, and your account goes back to Free. That includes recordings of lessons from months you paid for: a subscription gives you access while it runs; it does not buy the lessons themselves. Your account, your flashcard progress and your work stay where they are.

Your right to cancel within 14 days

Because you subscribe online, the law gives you the right to cancel within 14 days, without giving a reason. The 14 days start the day after you subscribe.

Premium membership is partly digital content (the recordings, flashcards and resources) and partly a service (the live lessons), and the law treats them differently if you start straight away. So when you sign up, we ask you to tick this:

In plain terms: once the digital resources are open to you, the 14-day right no longer covers them. You can still cancel the lessons within the 14 days, and if you do, you pay only for what has already been provided.

To use this right, tell us clearly by email at hello@alevelmathsacademy.co.uk. Cancelling under Manage subscription stops future payments, but it does not by itself ask for a refund, so please email us as well. If you would like to use a form of words, this is enough: "I cancel my Premium subscription. Name, email address of the account, date I subscribed, today's date." We will confirm we have received it and refund anything due to you within 14 days.

We will also email you a copy of what you ticked, and how to cancel, when you subscribe.

Other refunds

Apart from what the law gives you above, and the cases set out below, we do not refund payments or part of a month. We may choose to refund in other cases, at our discretion. None of this affects your legal rights if something we provide is not as described or is not provided with reasonable care and skill.

If you become a tuition client of The A Level Maths Tutor

Private tuition with The A Level Maths Tutor includes Premium membership, so you would otherwise be paying twice. If you become one of their tuition clients while you are subscribed, we cancel your subscription automatically and refund the unused part of the current month. Your Premium membership carries on through your tuition. We match the two by email address, so if you use a different address there, please tell us.

Changes to the price

If we change the price, we will tell you by email in advance, before the new price is taken. You can cancel before it applies to you. A change never affects a period you have already paid for.

If we end a subscription

We may end a subscription immediately for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, for example sharing your login or republishing our lessons (see sections 6 and 7). Where it is a misunderstanding, we would far rather talk to you first. If we end a subscription for any other reason, such as no longer running the service, we will give you as much notice as we reasonably can and refund any part of a period you have paid for and not received.

5. Live lessons

• Lessons run to a published timetable. Occasionally one has to move or be cancelled, and we will tell you as early as we can.
• Lessons are streamed and recorded so you can catch up. We record the teacher's screen and voice. You are not on camera or microphone.
• A question you type in the lesson chat may be read out or shown on screen, so it can end up in the recording.
• Be civil in the chat. We can remove someone from a lesson for behaviour that spoils it for everybody else.
• Please do not record, screenshot or re-post our lessons.

Live lessons depend on your internet connection as well as ours. We cannot do much about yours.

6. Our materials

The notes, videos, flashcards, worksheets and question sets on this site belong to us or to whoever licensed them to us. You may use them for your own study, and print or download a copy for that.

Please do not republish them, sell them, upload them to a file-sharing or homework-answers site, or use them to teach other people commercially. Past exam papers and mark schemes remain the copyright of the exam boards, and we make them available on the same basis they do.

What you write yourself, such as your answers and your messages in the lesson chat, is yours. You let us use it to run the site and the lessons, which includes a chat question appearing in a lesson recording.

7. Fair use

Please do not:

• share your login, or use someone else's;
• scrape, bulk-download or automate access to our content;
• try to reach parts of the site that are not yours, or anyone else's account;
• upload anything harmful, or anything that is not yours to upload;
• use the site to harass another student.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where it is a misunderstanding, we would far rather have a conversation first, and usually will.

8. If you are under 18

You are very welcome here, and most of our students are. If you are 12 or under, please ask a parent or guardian to set the account up. If you are under 18 and about to sign up, it is worth telling a parent or guardian you are doing it. How we look after your information is in our Privacy Policy, including a straight explanation of what the XP and streaks are actually doing.

9. What we promise, and what we do not

We will provide the site with reasonable care and skill, and we will try to keep it available. We cannot promise it will never be down: things break, and sometimes we take it down deliberately to improve it.

We cannot promise you a particular grade. Our material is here to help you learn; what you get out of it depends on the work you put in and a good many things neither of us controls.

Our notes and solutions are prepared carefully but can contain mistakes. Always check against your specification and your exam board's own materials, and please tell us if you spot an error, which is genuinely useful.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for exam results.

10. Changes, and ending it

We may change these terms, the content or the features. The date at the top says when these last changed. If we make a significant change we will make it obvious.

You can stop using the site and close your account at any time. If you have a Premium subscription, please cancel that too, as set out in section 4. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or if we stop running the service, in which case we will give as much notice as we reasonably can.

11. Law, and getting hold of us

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Questions, problems or corrections: hello@alevelmathsacademy.co.uk.
